چکیده

Achieving good overall performance in multicomputers requires matching application communication characteristics with a suitable network design. In order to study the complex interactions between router policies and communication workloads, we are building SPIDER (Scalable Point-to-point Interface DrivER), an experimental router that implements various routing-switching combinations through microprogrammable routing engines. By simulating a network of SPIDERs at the cycle level, we evaluate the performance of several routing and switching schemes under a variety of traac loads. These results show that tuning network policies to application communication characteristics can signiicantly improve multicomputer performance.

Analytical Modeling of Routing Algorithms in Virtual Cut-Through Networks

Contemporary multicomputer networks reduce communication latency by allowing an in-transit packet to \cut through" intermediate nodes to idle outgoing links, instead of buuering at each hop in its route. Under these cut-through switching schemes, routing algorithms innuence performance by determining whether an incoming packet can locate an idle output link. This paper presents analytical model...

A Novel Protection Guaranteed, Quality of Transmission Aware Routing and Wavelength Assignment Algorithm for All-optical Networks

Transparent All Optical Networks carry huge traffic and any link failure can cause the loss of gigabits of data; hence protection and its guarantee becomes necessary at the time of failure. Many protection schemes were presented in the literature, but none of them speaks about protection guarantee. Also, in all optical networks, due to absence of  regeneration capabilities, the physical layer i...

Performance Analysis of a New Neural Network for Routing in Mesh Interconnection Networks

Routing is one of the basic parts of a message passing multiprocessor system. The routing procedure has a great impact on the efficiency of a system. Neural algorithms that are currently in use for computer networks require a large number of neurons. If a specific topology of a multiprocessor network is considered, the number of neurons can be reduced. In this paper a new recurrent neural ne...
